About Dr. Metei
Emil Matei, M.D., D.O. is a board-certified general surgeon with fellowship training in minimally invasive surgery and bariatrics. Dr. Matei received his M.D. degree from Carol Davila University in Romania and his D.O. degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a general surgery residency in France at Hospitals of the University of Picardy and in the US at New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens. In addition, he completed a fellowship in Bariatrics and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery from the Cleveland Clinic Florida.
Dr. Matei is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, has published several articles and was a featured presenter at surgical society meetings.
Dr. Matei specializes in minimally invasive surgery, which includes the laparoscopic gastric bypass, laparoscopic adjustable gastric band, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and revisions.
